Less than a week since the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the royal family have another special occasion to celebrate..Prince Philip’s 91st birthday. The Duke of Edinburgh sadly ended up missing out on most of the Jubilee celebrations when he was hospitalised with a bladder infection, but the Prince is now out of hospital and said to be well on the mend so hopefully he can enjoy some birthday cake and family time today.
Whilst at times in the past the Duke of Edinburgh has proven a somewhat controversial public figure, the Queen herself has praised her husband for the stalwart support and guidance he has offered her through the years of her reign and she will undoubtedly have missed his presence over the Jubilee festivities. The royal couple will have been married for 65 years come this November, yet another fantastic reason for celebration. 2012 is proving to be quite the party year for the Windsors!
